I am currently holding a retail job as a part-timer & I am very worried.
You see, I have a long history of job hopping & job (sobs) sacking. Office jobs also cannot, retail jobs also cannot (too shy) I only have my O's & I don't know what I want to do. I sometimes think that even if I do something that I like, I still mess it up in the end :(
I actually have a very serious problem with my way of presenting myself & I always seemed to be too tense & I felt pretty awkward everytime I speak to people. Today, my supervisor commented that I looked scared & shy (as usual with everywhere I go) I am so afraid that this will be another job that will be gone down the drain just like my previous.
I've been trying so hard to conceal my 'disability' but to no avail. Everytime I open my mouth, something always comes out wrong & it makes people look at me funny, sometimes even angry or they don't understand me at all.
Another thing is, I am also pretty blur so I can't really do things that requires me to pay very detailed attention to it.
I suck man, I can't do this, I can't do that...sometimes I think I suck at working..no talent at all..is there such a thing??
to be honest, there could be such a thing as no talent....
but u still can be good at something else... Os are pretty hard to survive on nowadays especially if you cant do sales...
and job hopping is bad enuff without the jobs sacking...
so ... what are u good at ? if u cant do sales and u cant do detailed work... what abt reception jobs, customer service or even manual labour ?
surely there must be something ???
What i'm good at? If I know, I wouldn't be here sighing away & worrying about my next judegement day. I've tried what you suggested..many jobs I tried..sales, customer service, retail, admin, accts, etc. I exhausted almost every jobs that I could find with my O's. Of course that's why I am penning down this call of distress of mine.
jam on a bread.
I think you need to up your self confidence.
Find a job that matches your personality.
Go take up upgrading classes to increase your knowledge. I recommend some management studies.
Join public speaking clubs.. like Toastmasters etc. To help you gain more confidence in public speaking and presentation.
Your job hopping and terminations will look very bad on your resume on your future job search.
Are you a student on part time work ? Or part time student on full day work ?

not knowing u well.. (or at all), there's nothing much i can do except wish you good luck.
i always have faith that everyone can do something.
look at the disabled... if even they can hold down a job, why cant you ?
look at the mentally challenged.... if they can hold down a job too, why cant you ?
if u have truly hit the bottom and believe that there's no further way down... then surely the only way to go is up ?
other options u may not have tried includes :
1) hawker assistant
2) fast food outlets
3) restaurants
4) supermarket cashiers
etc.
TS, u are already having the wrong mindset.
u tink u are suck? tats wat u tink.
change tat tinking and carry on. be positive.
there must be something tat u are good in.
Your style is very similar to the guy with a cold war with staff at work.
Anyway, let's forget about talent for work for now. What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing?
i think i want to join toastmasters.
anyone knows where i can get more information?

Why can't you do office job? There are many office jobs like admin assistant which don't really need much talking (or at least not to stranger).
And many jobs in retail don't need much talking also. I had worked as sales assistant in Watson before and the job required more manual work (like pricing, packing, cashier, etc) than customer facing.
Shyness can be overcome, you just need to talk to more people to build up your confidence. Start with your friends, colleagues first.
And if you know you are blur, than just note down all the outstanding tasks and do them one as a time

TS may i know how old are you? if you are still young, i suggest you should get a higher quailification...... then you can work as technicians or something like that, thos job dun need to handle customer one. you only need to know your stuff thats all
The ideal job for your personality would be to become a librarian. Eventually you would have to come out of your shell though.
Chose somethings that you good with.
If you choose something that you not good with, just have to work double hard to achieve it. Nothing is possible, only that you try hard and harder..Or thru you properly will not get to the top, but you are as least good enough to secure your work there.
Just find a job that you think that you are capable. Everyone have a talent. It is up to themselves to find out. It is just some milestone.
Keep finding the job that is suitable. Dun be to depressing.. Cheers up!
yo TS,
try to find something that relates to what you do normally. for example a hobby.
for example, do you play computer games or into computer, then perhaps U can do some IT related work or if you like sports, then try SSC..
sometimes change yr ideal
are u demanding too much that Y a lot of jobs dont suit u ?????

what constitutes to failing in life?
not earning a million bucks by the age of 30?
not commanding a monthly salary of $10,000 / mth?
not excelling in your studies/job?
i'm sure that you're not perfect in your studies/job and fail short of expectations. please do us a favour and go kill yourself first. to add on, please get your parents in along with you since they fail to bring you up properly, thus failing in life. thank you have a nice day.

At least you have a talent in expressing your problems in here.
Why not try a job that requires such talents?
Self confidence is what you lack. The only was is to interact more with other people. If you hide yourself at home everyday and socialise little, you will tend to be shy and scared of strangers.
You have an O Level certificate why don't further your studies?
TS....there must be something in u that is useful..only that u haven find it...do a soul searching......find out what went wrong....there must be a soltuion to every problem....god is fair....

if you think you suck at sales then don't talk so much, it'll work better that way if you fear offending the customer.
just make sure you give the customer a good smile and greeting and then ask the customer what he/she wants and let the customer take it from there. sales is also about listening. if you haven't noticed, retail staff who received awards are not the ones who can talk well but the ones who showedthat they care about their job & customers or at least put up the act.
and keeping quiet applies to most industries, most people don't like staff that talk so much unless you're entertaining.
