Exactly, furthermore, chiam fragile health is seen as a diversion of votes, some voters even ask if he can last or not, so, I believe he should take a back seat, get younger peoples to particpant under his leadership, young peoples like me are looking for vibrant and someone who can take us into the next few decades, and with all due respect, not someone looking weak and fragile.
He should not retired but become a opposition mentor.

No need five years. We may have chance to vote again coming this August (Presidential Election), just hope that this time it will not be another walkover.
And again, we need to think before we vote, or end up voting for the wrong person to be our President.
The poll will be on Saturday 27 August if there is a contest.

I nearly forgot that....
Would CST be eligible to contest for presidency? I hope so.

Unfortunately he hasn't been a big time CEO, or a minister. Largely need to be one of these 2 to be president.
60% voted for this.
The PAP regime has increased the CPF minimum sum (MS) from $123,000 to $131,000 from July onwards to prevent Singaporeans from withdrawing their hard-earned savings for their twilight years. The new MS will apply to unfortunate Singaporeans who turn 55 from July 1 2011 to June 30 2012.
The Medisave Minimum Sum (MMS) will also be raised to $36,000 from $34,500 and the Medisave Contribution Ceiling (MCC) which is fixed at $5,000 above the MMS would be increased correspondingly to $41,000 from $39,500.
Only members who have the MS in their CPF account as cash can apply to commence their monthly payouts of $1,170 when they reach their draw down age.
The PAP regime claims that “the revisions to MMS and MCC are to ensure that Singaporeans have sufficient savings to meet their healthcare expenses, and have been adjusted for inflation.”
With the CPF savings of most Singaporeans tied up in mortgage loans used to finance over-priced HDB flats, few of them will have the required minimum sum in their CPF when they reach 55 years of age.
Singaporeans are likely to end up ‘asset rich’, but ‘cash poor’ in their golden years like this 80 year old toilet attendant interviewed in the video below as the PAP regime continues to lock in the hard-earned savings of Singaporeans in CPF to prevent burdening itself:
The CPF savings of members are not sitting idly in the CPF board, but are used by the PAP regime for ‘investment purposes’ and part of it may be used by Temasek Holdings and GIC in their overseas ‘forays.’
While Singaporeans are unable to withdraw their CPF savings at old age, PAP ministers have no such worries – they are paid a pension amounting to two-thirds of their last drawn salaries starting automatically from 55 years of age even if they remain in office.
This means that though Mah Bow Tan, Wong Kan Seng, Jayakumar, Yeo Cheow Tong, Dr Lee Boon Yang, George Yeo, Goh Chok Tong, Lim Boon Heng and Lee Kuan Yew have retired as ministers, Singaporeans are still paying their obscene pensions which may cost them more than $1 million dollars yearly not to mention the current ministers like Lee Hsien Loong, Teo Chee Hean and Khaw Boon Wan who are above 55 years of age!
With no opposition to its repressive and totalitarian rule, Singaporeans will have no choice but to resign to their savings being ‘manipulated’ by the PAP regime like playing ‘masak-masak’. It won’t be too long before the MS is raised to $200,000 to ‘adjust for inflation’.

Lucky i never contribute to CPF
We voted already...and PAP is still the majority!
Times are bad.
By the time your 10 year old son retires when he is 90 years old, the CPF minimum sum could be as high as $500,000.
No need think , just vote the PAP out la.
see first, if next rally, PAP gives good seafood dinner in their rallies, I may vote for them

Not possible. PAP will be voted out before he reaches 90 years old.
The new government will not be crazy to implement these unjust policies and lose people's support.

Only the Gen Xers and some Gen Yers.
Baby boomers and pre-war generation voted PAP because they had no choice. Those that came after them were spoiled for choice.
The fact that someone can continue supporting an organisation that continually rips off the commoners beats me.

众人皆醉我独醒。The drunkard always believe that he is the only one sober. Enjoy your drink.
Voting is over.
Seems from the election results alot of people never think before they vote.
Time to close thread and regret for the next 5 years

60% of Singaporean think 40% never think before they voted, why the 40% think the 60% never think before they voted. Which side are you on?
Too early to regret for the result isn't it? The end of the election is the beginning of a new era. What is clear now that there are a lot of people who don't think the way you think, to you it is a regret, to others, heng ah.....

Maybe they will only allow one person to be candidate while disqualifying the rest.
Maybe.
Many people will complain this and that but in the end they chose to join the majority votes...what's the point of all that complaining ???
not really. they are affordable.
